WEEKLY NEWS AND UPDATES

A.L.I.C.E. TRAINING INFORMATION SESSION – DEC. 6
St. Ann’s has consulted with members from the Stoughton School District and the Stoughton Police Department to help educate and prepare students in the unfortunate circumstance of an active threat within the parish or school. Specifically, St. Ann’s has adopted the A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate) response. In August, Officer Carson Hoeper from the Stoughton Police Department performed an active shooter training session for parish and school staff. Through the guidance of Officer Hoeper, a certified A.L.I.C.E. trainer, our employees acquired the appropriate actions and protocols to help students and staff maintain a safe environment, should such a threat become a reality. We are now ready to begin educating our students on these same protocols, presented in an age-appropriate, non-threatening format. Teacher-led action plans and classroom protocols for responding to active threats, primarily focusing on the first two letters of the A.L.I.C.E. acronym, Alert and Lockdown.

There will be a meeting for parents or other family members who want to hear more about the A.L.I.C.E. training and guided drill we will be running with students onThursday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in Healy Hall You will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as learn more about the long-term plan to include additional drills in 2019. For more information, see the Nov. 28 letter from Mrs. Roisum.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR HOSTED BY MIDDLE SCHOOL – DEC. 14
Please join us on December 14 at 9:00 a.m. for the Middle School Holiday Bazaar hosted by students in grades 6-8. This is a fundraiser for their upcoming Spring trips. They will be creating Christmas themed gifts and treats for sale to the younger students, families and parishioners at costs not to exceed $5. Come support our young “makers.”

CHRISTMAS FAMILY FUN DAY HOSTED BY KIDS 4 KIDS DEC. 16
Save the date! Sunday, Dec. 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the Kids4Kids charity group (made up of the Gille, Unitan, Hembrook and Langenohl families) is hosting it’s Christmas Family Fun Day again in the St. Ann Parish gym. There will be cookies, cocoa, card-making and beautiful Christmas music thanks to the talents of the Gille/Farris families. And Santa will be there too!

All donations made will go into the Kids4Kids general fund to help families in need in the Stoughton and Oregon communities as needs arise. Since 2015, Kids4Kids has raised $23,000 and given it back to local families in need. We have helped babies born with costly medical conditions, children who have lost a parent or a sibling, and the family of a local principal who was involved in a serious head-on collision cover medical and housing costs.

This event will allow Kids4Kids to respond quickly when the need arises. It also provides a sense of community love and support as we all gather together toward the cause of helping our neighbor in need. If you can’t make the event but would like to make a tax-deductible donation, you can mail a check to Kids4Kids, PO Box 141, Stoughton, WI 53589.

SCHOOL MUSIC PROGRAMS – DEC. 18 (K-4) & DEC. 21 (5-8)
Tuesday, December 18th, at 6:30 p.m., Grades K-4, as well as Band, Grades 4-8, will perform in the church. Students are asked to come in their Christmas colors, and Band students are asked to meet in the library by 6:10 p.m. to ready their instruments. Grade 4 will be performing a song on their guitars as well and may meet in their homeroom. With the exception of Band, all students should be in their homerooms by 6:15 p.m. I am finalizing logistics with Mrs. Smiley so will notify you if there are any changes. H&S will be hosting the post-concert reception in the gym.

For Grades 5-8, students and parents alike are invited to join us in the school gym on Friday, December 21st, at 1:30 p.m. to be entertained by our middle school theater groups, directed by Leo Endres and DeeDee Bouzek and choreographed by Natalie Nemeckay. There are 4 total groups who will be performing their own One Act Plays for the school, and if time allows, the whole school will join in Christmas carols before heading out for Christmas break.
