Discovering Joy and Connection at Camp Gray
Last weekend, St. Ann School’s 7th and 8th grade students embarked on an unforgettable retreat at Camp Gray, a hidden gem nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Owned by the Catholic Diocese of Madison, this vibrant camp spans 225 acres of natural beauty and serves as a beacon of hope and community for all who visit.
A Vision Realized
The story of Camp Gray began in 1953, inspired by the heartfelt vision of Monsignor Francis Xavier Gray, pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Baraboo. His dream was to create a sanctuary where youth could escape the distractions of city life, immerse themselves in nature, and connect with their Creator in a safe and nurturing environment. After a quest for the perfect spot, he discovered a pristine 100-acre wooded tract, laying the foundation for what would become a cherished haven for generations.
A Warm Welcome to Stoughton
MaryJo Timm’s soft laugh punctuates her storytelling as she reminisces about her initiation into St. Ann School. When she and her husband, Fred, moved to Stoughton in 1979, they found a small elementary school run by the Sisters of Nazareth. The nuns not only taught but also cared for the nursing home attached to Nazareth House.
Pancake Breakfast and Open House: A Recipe for Community Connection
This past weekend, our school came alive as families and friends gathered for the much-loved 2nd Annual Pancake Breakfast and Open House. The mouthwatering aroma of freshly cooked pancakes wafted through the halls, pulling everyone in and setting the stage for a wonderful morning.
Flipping for Fun
The pancake breakfast kicked off on a beautiful fall morning, with our amazing volunteers flipping pancakes in the cafeteria. Families eagerly lined up, ready to dig into fluffy stacks alongside savory sausage and scrambled eggs. But this breakfast was about more than just food; it was a chance for students, parents, parish members, and community friends to connect over shared plates and laughter. Conversations flowed freely, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that felt like home.
